Giving back to our industry at Farmer Cresent site

In the first week of September we welcomed NAWIC Wellington to our 18-unit Kāinga Ora Farmer Crescent development in Taita, Lower Hutt.  The visit was a great opportunity for our team to share the project with NAWIC members and talk through the collaboration, planning and efficiencies that are helping drive the project forward under Kāinga Ora’s Housing Delivery System (HDS).

A week after welcoming NAWIC Wellington, we opened the site gates again this time to 28 first-year Bachelor of Construction students from the School of Architecture. The students joined us on Tuesday 8 September for a tour, getting out of the classroom and onto a live construction site to see how the things they’re learning translate into the real world. Supporting the development of people entering our industry is something we’re really passionate about.

Supporting people in construction today and the future workforce coming through is something we’re passionate about. A big thank you to our Farmer Cresent team for hosting the visits, sharing their knowledge and showing the groups around site, and to NAWIC Wellington, the students and teaching team of Wellington Victoria University for coming along.

He waka eke noa – we’re all in this together.  Building our industry isn’t just about the projects we deliver; it’s about supporting the people working in construction today and investing in the future workforce who will shape our industry tomorrow.
