Come work with us!

Whether you have years of experience or are just cutting your teeth in the construction industry, there are opportunities at all levels at Aoraki. Our philosophies are clean and simple – work in the market we know and love (Wellington!), work in partnerships with good people, understand and actively manage construction risk, treat everyone with fairness and respect, work hard, and have a heap of fun along the way!

Team Benefits

Our people are our greatest asset, so it is fundamentally important to us that we look after our team. We offer a great team culture and supportive work environment, as well as a number of employee benefits:

  • A health insurance plan through Southern Cross which is open to all employees.
  • Annual health checks are offered to all Aoraki staff.
  • A comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme offered through EAP Services where employees can access counselling, legal support, and budgeting advice.
  • A progressive parental leave policy that extends beyond the statutory requirements and includes both primary and secondary caregivers.
  • Real opportunities for career growth and development.
  • Frequent team events outside of work to enable our teams to build stronger relationships, helping to build natural support systems for each other within the team.
  • Wāhine o Aoraki, a space for the women in the team to connect regularly in an informal setting and chat about the challenges and experiences on site.
  • Regular site barbeques for entire work sites, as a thank you for everyone’s hard work and to bring all the subcontractors together, reinforcing that we are one team pushing for the same end goal.
  • We are a Living Wage accredited employer.
  • A 6-monthly review schedule for apprentices and cadets, recognizing the steep learning curves and rapidly increasing skillsets of people in these positions.

Aoraki Construction Cadet Training Programme

Our Construction Cadet Training Programme is designed for people who have some sort of base to continue their learning from, whether that be a trade, degree, diploma, or other qualification. It is hands-on learning in a real environment, while benefitting from the guidance of some of Wellington’s most experienced construction professionals.

Carpentry Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are part of giving back to the industry and the communities in which we work in, as well as building capability and creating a pipeline of future Aoraki carpenters. A good attitude, work ethic, and willingness to learn are they key attributes we look for in our apprentices, and if you tick these boxes you have the potential to go far! It is important to us that each of our apprentices have the appropriate level of mentoring and guidance to complete their training and become skilled at their trade so we always ensure that we have the right balance of qualified carpenters vs apprentices on the team.
